Omni Motion Magic Tutorial
Using Maxi Stitches on Designer 1 and Designer SE

Picture
Very few owners of machines with Maxi or Omni Motion Stitches use them, especially now in the days of motif embroidery, yet they are a great asset and can be used for fantastic embellishments.
Most people do not even know that the Designer series has a short term memory and even fewer use the programming or balance features. Most do not use their machine to anywhere near its full potential. Omni Motion Stitches are an under-utilized feature and have been over shadowed by motif embroidery. They are really quick to do and can really enhance motif embroidery on lots of items such as towels, garments and quilts.

This 25 page tutorial covers:
  • General rules for stitching out omni motion (4 way) stitches successfully.
  • How to use the sewing machine memory to create combinations of the built in omni motion stitches.
  • How to balance Omnimotion stitches so they sew correctly.
  • How to stitch these out in the hoop - no software required, it is done completely on the machine.
  • How to use the Balance feature in the Set menu to get perfectly stitched out 6mm or onmi motion embroidery stitches.
  • How to use the sewing machine's short term memory function to make stitch sequencing easier, with candlewick stitch and hand-look quilt stitch examples.
  • The basting function only operates with motif embroidery so I have worked out a technique, and included the basting designs, so that you can have the basting function available when using the on board stitches in the hoop. If you do not have any software at all to transfer these optional basting designs to the machine, alternatives are listed in the tutorial..

There is a version of this tutorial specifically for the Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 machine, which could also be applied to the Orchidea 1+ as it has omni motion stitches too, and there is a version for the Designer SE model.. as well as the Designer Diamond.
