Sashiko on your Sewing Machine
The majority of commercial Sashiko design collections are made by using triple stitch. Embroidery library has some that are continuous running stitch and they would be suitable to use with a bobbin thread technique.
Motif embroidery designs rely on a hoop and embroidery machine to stitch them out. As much as the larger hoops and the endless hoops have made repeat embroidery easier there are still times when a motif design limits you, especially when quilting.
This machine Sashiko stitch allows you to easily cover a large area of fabric quickly. Many designs need only 3 or 4 bobbins of thread to stitch over quite a large area. This is one situation, where having a drop in bobbin is a definite advantage as you can easily see how much thread is left on the bobbin.
This bobbin stitch can be done on virtually ANY sewing machine in existence as it is basically just a straight stitch with a tension adjustment.
